I chuckle when I read of people complaining about medial liberal bias. I chuckle again when some claim that the media is bias to the conservative side. Here is a news flash; the main stream media is biased.
The Cronkite School of Journalism reports that 67% of Americans do not trust the major news media for accurate reporting. Non-biased, factual news is difficult to obtain.
News organizations fabricate the news. Dateline NBC, in 1992, did a show about the fuel tanks of GM pickup trucks that ignite after a side collision, entitled “ Waiting to explode”. They later admitted the producers used the wrong sized gas cap, over filled the fuel tank, and used an incendiary device to demonstrate the gas would explode and burn.
News organizations themselves are making the news. The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is a conflict of interest. Journalists are frequently guest at White House State dinners. Some journalists belong to the same country clubs as the people they cover.
News organizations are the news definers. In 1917, the Congressional Record reports that J.P. Morgan bought the top 25 greatest newspapers in America. His elite, hand picked staff controlled the editorial policies. They alone decide what will be printed as the news.
News organizations are covering for collectivism. They promote socialism and communism. William Duranty of the New York Times purposely miss-reported the 1932-33 famine in Russia. He won the Pulitzer Prize. Herbert Matthews of the N.Y. Times told us repeatedly that Castro was not a communist. He kept his job for decades.
News organizations will rearrange reality. They will decide which events are news worthy. Bill Clinton was getting into real trouble about Chinagate, but the media miss-directed public attention and all that was in the news was Monica, Monica, and Monica.
News organizations are exploiting unfounded fears. Global warming is an example of sweeping statements that feed public fears. If it bleeds, it leads. Everything is a crises, better yet a global crises.
News organizations will channel public choice with illusions of popular support. They tried to build up the Million Mom March, but if fizzled. They seem to offer alternative opinions, but they designate the official opposition.
News is everywhere and not hard to find. It is in newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, and the Internet. The truth is out there, if you work hard you can find it.
